America is supposedly the ‘land of the free’, but are we really free? In healthcare, we are free to make our own decision – unless the government deems that it should make the decision for you! In California a new bill is going to be voted on (AB 2109) that will take the rights away from citizens and will force children to get vaccinated. Regardless of your belief (or lack of belief) of vaccinations, is it right that the government would take away your right to choose what goes into your body? I say NO!!
This is not about my feelings regarding vaccinations; as most of my patients know I am against vaccinations for two reasons: First, they don’t work well and second, they contain chemicals like mercury, ethylene glycol, antibiotics, formaldehyde and various genetic materials that DO cause damage. But this potential law is not about the debate of whether vaccines are good or bad; it is about your right to choose.
The law was championed by a medical doctor senator who has very well known ties to the AMA and the pharmaceutical industry. In fact almost all the senators who have backed this bill have financial ties to those organizations. Why would the AMA and big pharma want to take away your rights? MONEY!! It’s always about the money with them! Simply put, the more vaccines they sell, the more money they make. It’s good financially for the MDs who give the shots and it’s good financially for the companies that produce the shots. And, let’s not forget the senators who promote the shots – it’s very good financially for them too!
To be fair AB 2109 does not take away all your rights. The bill reads that if you want to avoid vaccinating your children you have to sign a release form, then get an MD to sign that release form. Many MD’s told the California senate that they would gladly sign the release form if asked two weeks ago when this bill was being debated. However, in a separate survey, only 20% of MD’s said they would sign any release. The MD’s said they would not want to appear “anti-vaccination” as the main reason to avoid signing a release form. This begs two questions: How hard will it be to find a doctor willing to sign a release? and How powerful is the AMA (and big pharma) that doctors are scared to do anything against their wishes?!?
In the end I think this is a huge slap in the face of Californians. The government is saying that you are not smart enough to make decisions for yourself, that you couldn’t possibly understand how vaccines work (or don’t work) and thus you can’t be trusted to make proper decisions – so the government will decide for you. I say that I can make my own choices as to which chemicals I put (or don’t put) into my children; and I’m willing to bet which kids will be healthier!!
